I’m sat in a cafe drinking a large Americano trying to compose a thank you card for the twins’ pre-school teachers because in an hour’s time they ‘graduate’.
The last year has flown and they are toddlers no more. They are still tiny but over the past six months they’ve suddenly grown up. They need me in different ways and can now be left to their own games all the time.
They can swim, ride bikes (with stabilisers I mean!) get dressed, put on shoes, feed themselves, find their own sun hats- all the little things that used to fill a day they can now do without me.
I am so enormously proud of them that I know I will struggle not to shed a tear at the party later but right now I need to focus on thanking some wonderful pre-school teachers who have helped the twins along in their journey.
It’s so hard to find the right words to convey my gratitude for the teachers kindness, the way they’ve encouraged the twins independence and noticed their individual quirks. I feel so lucky that the twins have gone to such a loving, welcoming pre-school that I will be very sad to say goodbye.
